Lavender Afternoon 36x48
*On display and available through Layor Art Supply & Gallery in Downtown Bend, Oregon
Heavy bodied acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas. This painting was inspired by my visit to Hood River Lavender Fields. I took Artist's license to pump up the color and add a little bit of change of seasons. I took the inspirational picture for this painting myself. There were green weed-like plants with tiny white flowers growing inbetween the rows of lavender. I tried to capture this look and also make Mt. Hood a lot more visible. It was a smokey, hazy day originally and the mountain was not quite as vivid. Heavy texture used for most everything except the cabins and sky where I used a brush.
